Winstead PC has hired the former assistant general counsel of the Tennessee Titans. Kirt “Blu” Whipple joins Winstead in the firm’s sports and corporate practice groups. Whipple begins a career at Winstead after serving nearly 15 years as assistant general counsel for KSA Industries, Inc., and a variety of companies owned and controlled by the late K. S. “Bud” Adams, Jr. KSA Industries, Inc. owns and operates the Tennessee Titans professional football team of the National Football League.
Whipple brings extensive sports, corporate and business legal experience to Winstead. As assistant general counsel of the Titans, Whipple advised, consulted and participated in the day-to-day management of a variety of the team’s legal matters, including employment, corporate governance, risk management, litigation management, compliance with the National Football League Constitution Rules and Regulations and other matters. His sports experience also includes negotiating radio and television broadcasting rights, stadium naming rights and sponsorship agreements.
In addition to his sports law background, Whipple brings experience in a variety of other industries that complement Winstead’s legal service to clients, including real estate, automotive, agriculture, energy and aviation.
Whipple received his JD from South Texas College of Law and his undergraduate degree from Cornell University. While in college, Whipple played defensive end on two Ivy League championship teams.
