Matheson Ormsby Prentice ranked number one for Irish M & As

Leading Irish corporate law firm Matheson Ormsby Prentice advised on more Irish M&A transactions than any other law firm for the period January - September 2007, according to international financial publisher MergerMarket.

Matheson Ormsby Prentice has enjoyed an extremely successful year so far, advising on a number of the highest value Irish M&A transactions. In one of the largest transactions in recent years, the firm recently advised Houghton Mifflin Riverdeep Group plc on its US$4 billion acquisition of Reed Elsevier's Harcourt US schools education business. The firm had had also advised in November 2006 on the acquisition by HM Rivergroup PLC of Houghton Mifflin and Riverdeep, valuing the combined group in excess of US$4.5 billion, the largest ever acquisition by an Irish corporate. Further examples of headline deals include acting for Walsh Western International on its acquisition of TDS Logistics Inc for US$400 million, and for TUI Travel Plc on the sale of Irish travel agency Budget Travel to Primera Travel.
