Taylor Wessing launches Dubai office
in merger with Key & Dixon
Taylor Wessing today reveals plans
to open an office in Dubai by merging with its associated Dubai
law firm of the last five years, Key & Dixon.
Taylor Wessing (Middle East) LLP will officially
launch by the end of the year and will be led by named partner
Christopher Dixon, who specialises in corporate, banking and
arbitration. Current Key & Dixon partners, Osama Hassan,
Jerry Parks and Pier Terblanche, together with their full team
of associates and other personnel, will be working alongside
Christopher, providing wide-ranging expertise in corporate,
commercial, financial services, IT and media, litigation and
arbitration, real estate, intellectual property, private client
and employment. Consultants, Jeremy Key and Peter Shaw will
continue to work with the Dubai office.
Michael Frawley, Wolfgang Rehmann and Arnaud
de Senilhes, Managing Partners of Taylor Wessing in the UK,
Germany and France respectively, comment:
"During the course of our association
with Key & Dixon, we have enjoyed a busy client referral
network to and from the Middle East. The business environment
in the Gulf region is dynamic, vibrant and strong and continues
to evolve apace. Our launch in Dubai provides a natural extension
to our stated aim of providing clients who work with and from
Europe, access to our legal services in jurisdictions where
they are increasingly active."
Hamid Yunis and Andreas Meissner, Partners
in the London and Hamburg offices of Taylor Wessing who participated
in the negotiations and will be managing the firm's development
of its Middle Eastern practice, comment:
"The combination of our existing relationship
with Key & Dixon and indeed their deeply rooted practice
and understanding of the region and our international offering
in key practice areas, is a powerful combination and one that
we feels offers something different to the market. Our merger
is a sign of our confidence in the Middle East, a region which
we consider to be a key driver in the development of our firm
and our stated aims and objectives."
Christopher Dixon of Key & Dixon comments:
"We are delighted to be merging with
Taylor Wessing, with whom we have enjoyed an excellent relationship
for the last five years. There are many synergies between our
firms and a merger presents a number of opportunities to forge
cross-firm teams and to grow. Our new structure as Taylor Wessing
Middle East will undoubtedly help us maximise the many opportunities
that this dynamic region offers".
