Houston, Mar. 31, 2008 —Houston Shareholder and Chair of Winstead PC's Energy and Environmental practice Tom Hutcheson was unanimously elected to serve on the Advisory Board of the Sam Houston Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America. For over 90 years, the Sam Houston Area Council has been dedicated to leading youth to lifelong values, service and achievement.
Hutcheson has more than 33 years of trial and appellate experience representing clients in major cases, with a heavy emphasis on oil, gas and energy litigation. He has extensive experience in the management, coordination and handling of large, complex cases in both state and federal courts as well as arbitration proceedings and mediations. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, the Houston Bar Association and a fellow of the Texas and Houston Bar Foundations.

Currently, Hutcheson is a director of Family Services of Greater Houston and the Family Services Foundation. He serves as Assistant Scoutmaster of Boy Scouts of America, Troop 55, and he's been a Friends of Scouting Representative, Sam Houston Area Council since 2004. Hutcheson has been named a Best Lawyer in America by his peers in the oil and gas field for the past two years. He received his J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law and his B.A. from the University of Virginia.
The Sam Houston Area Council includes more scouts than any other Boy Scout Council in the world, serving the southeastern area of Texas including the following counties: Austin, Brazos, Burleson, Colorado, Fort Bend, Harris, Grimes, Madison, Matagorda, Montgomery, Robertson, Trinity, Walker, Waller, Washington, Wharton and Western Chambers.
